What this job is about
As part of Mobisol´s senior product management team, you will be responsible for our existing product portfolio as well as for setting the portfolio for the future including high level management of in-house and out of the shelf development and co-development of systems and appliances in close cooperation with the country offices in East Africa and the technical departments in Berlin, as well as finance products. You will build products from new and existing ideas and work on pricing, marketing and product strategies for Mobisol to remain competitive in our target markets in Africa. You will play a key role when it comes to decision making before we launch a new product or vary specifications of existing products (life cycle management).  In this key role you will be responsible for the "3P":
 
Your tasks
In this key role you will be responsible for the "3P":

        Product 
  • Analyze markets and product needs in our core regions
  • Maintain our product portfolio (solar systems, appliances, finance & service products)
  • Management of the product life cycle
  • Establish and lead the project management and the costumer centric innovation within  Mobisol and in close cooperation with our development team
  • Take the lead in projects that will support the launch and growth of product portfolio
  • Establish policies, guidelines and processes in the product development process (PDP)
  • Provide the go to market plan for new products

    Pricing
  • Pricing of new and existing products
  • Close monitoring of the profitability of the existing product portfolio

    Position:
  • Coordination between the country operations (sales, business development, marketing) and supply chain
  • High level management of product sourcing, development and co-development
  • Channel management and POS
  • Further brand development
  • Lead the decision making process in close cooperation with the management
Your Qualifications
  • MBA or management diploma with a minimum of 7 years´ experience in the role of a product manager, ideally in a technology driven company
  • A least 3 years project management experience (ideally software based)
  • High level of familiarity with the management of the product development process including pricing and market positioning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and to mentor junior colleagues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, German would be an additional asset
  • Ideally experience in solar off-grid market and East Africa
  • Willingness to travel frequently (worldwide and in particular to our East African subsidiaries)
  • A flexible and analytic mind who is able to work in a fast paced environment
  • A team player who is able to take over responsibility
